Joeri de Ridder pioneered electric vehicles in Belgium as co-organizer of the Ecomobiel fairs in Antwerp from 2005 till 2009 and with the launch of the first electric car on the Belgian market – the Reva – in 2008 as technical and commercial responsible for its distributor Green Mobil. The compact Reva was an electric city-car designed in California and manufactured in India by the Reva Electric Car Company, recently acquired by the Mahindra group.
In 2009 Joeri founded Electric Drive BVBA with the mission to minimize the effects of climate change by encouraging carbon-neutral mobility.
Focusing now on road-legal light commercial vehicles from the French OEM Goupil-Industries, Electric Drive has a leading position in Belgium with fleet-clients like the Cities of Antwerp and Brussels. The newest member of his portfolio is the Maxus EV80 truck from Saic, the largest full electric light duty truck built by China’s oldest and largest car manufacturer.
With 200+ EV’s sold in Belgium, Electric Drive’s clients have accumulated over 2 Mio km of road user experience and the company has a team with more than 30 years combined EV, automotive, mechanical and electrical engineering experience.
Joeri has been the Chairman of the Belgian section of AVERE (ASBE) from 2007 until 2016 and was a Board Member of AVERE. He also built the Belgian charging locations database as part of the ASBE website. Between 2014 and 2017, Joeri was Chairman of AVERE and since 2016 also chaired WEVA (World Electric Vehicle Association). With Joeri at the helm, AVERE won the EC tender to develop the European Alternative Fuels Observatory (WWW.EAFO.EU). Joeri also created Avere’s Electromobility Conference.
Recently Joeri became member and Mobility specialist of the Strategy Committee of the Green Consulting Group. We have particular expertise on islands and remote locations, where integrated solutions are especially important for energy and water management, the environment and electrical mobility.
